StAnza: Afterword 2011

Two very different strands at this year’s festival gave StAnza 2011 its distinctive celebratory flavour. Our focus on Gaelic to mark the Sorley MacLean centenary was a feast for the ears with Gaelic voices and Gaelic music spilling out of events and rising to the rafters; and in Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink, there was plenty of the best of both on offer in our enhanced Café Poetry series of events and more generally around the festival.

Here’s a reminder of what was on the menu in March – everything from cheese and wine to scones and haggis stovies accompanying five glorious days of poetry, conversation and celebration. With more events on the programme than ever before, there was plenty to remember so we’re delighted to have a whole gallery of photographs – formal images from events but also intimate moments from around the festival – as well as links to reviews, podcasts, videos and other online festival coverage, all guaranteed to whet your appetite for next year.
