StAnza International Poetry Festival

StAnza Venues: Parliament Hall

Parliament Hall Location: On the south side of South Street opposite the Criterion Bar

Parliament Hall hosted the first major events of the StAnza Festival in its founding year of 1998. It has been used as a main venue for the festival ever since.

A distinguished, oak-panelled room, it is named after the pre-Union parliament of Scotland which met there in the late 17th century after an outbreak of plague in the capital and is lined with oil portraits of University dignitaries from the past.

Disabled Access: Parliament Hall has one or two steps up into the venue. Please ask the door staff for assistance if required.

Events: Early evening readings.
