Poetry Map of Scotland, poem no. 208: Rannoch Moor

Moon over Rannoch

Not the fat, yellow moon
Of June;
Sunglassed, smiling emoji,
Hamster cheeked,
More in store, but
The silver disc
Of winter.
Against a midnight sky,
nothing behind that face,
Wispy gauze before.
Narrowed eyes, slit mouth,
Pursed in disapproval,
Illuminating all.
Midnight moment,
Beyond betrayal.
