Border Crossings

Sunday 8 March, 11:30 - 12:30
Undercroft, St John's House, South Street

Reading: Suzannah V. Evans, Jay G. Ying

Join us in this Border Crossings session to hear two poets reading from their hotly anticipated debuts. Suzannah V. Evans’ work has been widely published in literary magazines across the UK and broadcast on BBC Radio Bristol. Influenced by residences at Underfall Boatyard in Bristol in 2019, and currently Bank Street Arts, her writing has focused on the role of poetry in our experience of place. Her debut poetry pamphlets are appearing with Guillemot Press in spring 2020. She will be reading alongside Jay G. Ying, a Chinese-Scottish poet, critic and translator based in Edinburgh and winner of the 2019 New Poets Prize. An exploration of violent traditions and queer desire, his debut pamphlet, Wedding Beasts (Bitter Melon, 2019), was shortlisted for the Saltire Society’s Callum MacDonald Memorial Award. Don’t miss the passionate and impressive poetry of these provocative new voices.

Participants: Suzannah V. Evans and Jay G. Ying
