Border Crossings

Saturday 7 March, 14:15 - 15:15
Undercroft, St John's House, South Street
£4.50/£3.50

Reading: Nancy Campbell, R.A. Jamieson

This Border Crossing reading brings together two poets whose poetry deals with the social and political, using the poetic form to explore and highlight small communities. Nancy Campbell is a Scottish poet and artist, and currently a Literature Fellow at the Villa Concordia in Germany. After a series of residencies researching cultural shifts and the climate crisis in the north, she published her first collection, The Library of Ice: Readings from a Cold Climate, which was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. Also reading will be R.A. Jamieson, a writer born into the crofting community of Sandness on Shetland whose interest in poetry translation has been fostered by his involvement with Literature Across Frontiers. His most recent collection, A Hundier Inboos Till a Diein Lied (Luath, 2017), is built from both his own work and his translations into Shetlandic from other marginalised European languages.
