Breakfast at the Poetry Café: Translation
Wake up and smell the Poetry Café! Ease into the last day of the festival with coffee and pastries, while a group of the festival’s poets and translators discuss the challenges and the joys that come with translation. This year we’re focusing on translation from and between the Scandinavian family of languages. Ida Börjel is a poet who has also translated work into Swedish, as well as creating cultural translations of her own work for different countries. Maja Lee Langvad’s poetry explores identity across nations, and she translates authors including Gertrude Stein and Max Frisch into Danish. Lesley Harrison is taking part in StAnza's Scottish/Norwegian translation workshop. Together they'll be talking about transporting words between languages and cultures and translation as collaboration.
Presented with the support of Fisher & Donaldson and the Swedish Arts Council
