Sarah Corbett and Zoe Benbow share their responses to Dorothy Wordsworth

Dorothy’s Colour is a sequence of paintings and poems in conversation with Dorothy Wordsworth’s Grasmere Journals, by Sarah Corbett and Zoe Benbow. Zoe’s paintings respond to the Grasmere landscape and reference the colour palette—yellows, blues, greys and greens—of Dorothy’s journal entries. Sarah’s accompanying poem sequence, ‘A Perfect Mirror’, weaves extracts from the journals together with her own responses to the landscape. Join Sarah and Zoe today to learn more about their collaboration, which is exhibited as part of our digital installations throughout the festival.

Dorothy’s Colour was completed after Zoe and Sarah’s residency at the Wordsworth Trust in spring of 2017, and exhibited at Grasmere and Lancaster University in 2017, and the Poetry Cafe, London, in 2018, and was funded by Arts Council England Grants for the Arts, Lancaster University and the Wordsworth Trust.
