Don’t miss Wendy Cope, our final headliner of the festival

For our final 2020 Poetry Centre Stage event, StAnza is delighted to welcome back the renowned poet, Wendy Cope. Raised in Kent, where her parents often recited poetry to her, Wendy went on to read history at Oxford and then worked as a primary school teacher until the publication of her first book, Making Cocoa for Kinglsey Amis (1986). A massive success, the collection demonstrated the dexterity, humour and sense of ironic observation in her writing. Since then, she has been a freelance writer, writing for children and adults alike and publishing five other collections of poetry, most recently Anecdotal Evidence (2018). Her playful style has won awards in both the UK and abroad. A fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, she continues to be an exciting and refreshing poetic voice publishing today.
