Wigtown Poetry Prize Showcase

Friday 6 March, 13:00 - 14:00
Parliament Hall, South Street
£4.50/£3.50

Listen to winners and runners up from the biggest poetry competition in Scotland

Founded in 2005, the Wigtown Poetry Prize is one of the UK’s best established writing competitions and a launchpad for many writers' careers. Refreshed and rebranded in 2019, Wigtown Poetry Prize welcomes entries from poets writing in English wherever they may live. Separate categories celebrate the best of Scottish Gaelic and Scots language poetry, while a special category acknowledges a rising talent in Dumfries and Galloway, and a new pamphlet prize is named in memory of Alastair Reid—local poet and a favourite with StAnza audiences.

In partnership with StAnza, the Wigtown Poety Prize 2019 winners were announced during Wigtown Book Festival. Come along today to hear last year’s winners and find out more about the 2020 competition.

NB: Please note that venues open 10 minutes before an event starts, and Parliamant Hall has no Front of House area to wait inside before the house opens.
