The Year of Conversation

A Year of Conversation 2019 (AYOC19) is a collaborative project designed to celebrate, initiate and explore conversation through the arts. This year at StAnza a number of events which connect with this focus, highlighting in particular the role of translation as conversation. At a time when mutual understanding appears threatened and communities are becoming increasingly insular, the project aims to show that our culture is, after all, an open one and also to highlight the importance of conversation for this openness. The vision is for something national and international, serious but playful, both necessary and important, demonstrating the truth of Montaigne's words, 'We belong to all countries.'
