She devises new poetic forms for installations and commissions including the infamous Arts Council–funded Quantum Sheep, in which haiku were spray-painted onto live sheep. Her recent collections The Facebook of the Dead and All That Lives, in particular, arose from funded residencies with pathologists, neuroscientists and anatomists researching the science of dying. She featured in BBC2’s Why Poetry Matters and performs worldwide live and in the media. She has won numerous prizes and awards, including a Wellcome Trust Arts Award and two Northern Writers’ Awards.
