Simon Manfield is a West Yorkshire-based artist and illustrator working primarily with traditional media. His work is concerned with the process of drawing and is representational in nature, exploring narratives that sometimes describe disquieting stillness or a breathless moment caught in time. His Memoria Histórica drawings, documenting an excavation of a Spanish Civil War era mass grave, have been exhibited internationally and have appeared in various publications. He has also worked collaboratively with curators and artists on projects including large-scale earthwork drawings for the 2014 Tour de France. His collaborative work is represented in public and private collections, including the Judith Rothschild Foundation Drawings Collection at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
