Maram al- Massri

Maram al-Massri is a Franco-Syrian author and poet. She was born in Lattakia, in Syria, and moved to France in 1982. Today, al-Massri is considered one of the most influential and captivating feminine voices of her generation. She has published a number of collections, the first of which – I Threaten You with a White Dove – was published in 1987. Her work has been translated from Arabic into eleven languages, among them French, English and Turkish. She has won a number of awards for her poetry including the Adonis Prize for the best creative work in Arabic.
