Reading: Ellen Phethean, Mary Noonan

The English poet, playwright and editor Ellen Phethean reads with the Irish poet and academic Mary Noonan in this Border Crossings reading. Ellen Phethean, a co-founder of Diamond Twig Press, will be reading from her second collection, Portrait of the Quince as an Older Woman. The collection explores the older woman’s place in contemporary culture and was a New Writing North Read Regional choice for 2014. Ellen's first collection, Breath, was shortlisted for the London New Poetry Award in 2010.

Mary Noonan's debut collection, The Fado House, appeared with Dedalus Press in 2012 and showcases her own work as well as presenting her translations of Baudelaire and de Nerval. The manuscript of the collection had previously been awarded the Listowel Poetry Collection Prize. Her poems have been published widely in print and online and her work featured in Best Irish Poetry 2010.
