Collective Poetry Reading
Over the past years, our collective readings have seen over a hundred people (from poets to passers by) joining together to read aloud different poems all at the same time, filling the Byre Theatre with poetry. This year we'll be reading together from Earth Shattering: ecopoems, a 2007 anthology edited by Neil Astley. Bringing together contemporary responses to climate crisis with ancient Chinese wilderness poetry and work by Sandinista revolutionary and liberation theologian Ernesto Cardenal, Earth Shattering remains a prescient collection which seems to warn, alert and lament, but also – importantly – to offer hope.
No previous experience of reading poetry is necessary, and quiet voices are as welcome as commanding ones, so please do come along to the Byre for this special event.
