Byre Theatre, Abbey Street - Auditorium
This event took place in 2018

A sneak peek at some of the highlights of StAnza 2018

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This event is free. It is, of course, limited to the capacity of the venue, and if you’d like to reserve a ticket to be sure of getting in, you can now do so by contacting the Byre Theatre’s box office. However, the tickets will only be available for collection on the day and they will not be issued until 40 minutes before the event starts. They cannot be received online or by post. Reservations will expire on any tickets not collected 15 minutes before the event starts. Or, of course, you can take your chances on just turning up on the day.

Raise a glass with us as we officially launch this year’s festival, with special guest Barbara Dickson! Inspired by our friends at the Poetry International festival in Rotterdam, this year our opening night will be an extravaganza performance with poems from a range of festival poets as well as film, art and music.

We’ll be offering you a taster of some of the poetry and performances we’re most excited about this festival, hearing from some of the biggest names in poetry, and welcoming some great new talent we’re sure you’ll love. Interspersed with their wonderous words will be a selection of the filmpoems and digital installations to be enjoyed at StAnza 2018 – and of course there’ll be music guaranteed to set your feet tapping.

With poetry, films and music galore, this evening’s not one you want to miss! We dare you to leave without a new favourite poet…
