Poetry Centre Stage
From 1 April the StAnza 2021 festival content on this page is no longer available.
Two powerhouses of contemporary poetry will be reading in our Saturday night Poetry Centre Stage. Poet, playwright and performer Inua Ellams has come to increasing prominence over the past few years, gaining particular attention for his book-length poem The Half-God of Rainfall, and most recently publishing a full-length collection with Penned in the Margins. His work combines passionate fury with dark humour and classical myth with a sharp contemporary relevance. We’re also thrilled to have Ukrainian-born, US-based poet Ilya Kaminsky reading, in a welcome return to StAnza. Ilya’s work has been shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize and the Forward Prize. His latest collection, Deaf Republic, asks what happens to language in a time of crisis and has been hailed as a contemporary epic.
Just return to this webpage to view the event, which will be captioned and remain available to watch until 31 March.
