ReadingMona Kareem, Michael Grieve

We’re thrilled to introduce you to two poets tonight who we think you’ll be hearing from for years to come. Regulars might recognise Michael Grieve from StAnza’s festival desk in past years, and it’s wonderful to welcome him to the ‘other side’ of the festival. Michael was shortlisted for the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award in 2020, and his poems, in English and Scots, are intriguing and beguiling, full of thrill and thrall. Reading alongside him is poet and translator Mona Kareem. Based in the USA and born in Kuwait, Mona writes in Arabic and English. Her work creates captivating miniatures of the everyday, and uses poetry to explore both the self and the world.
