Poetry Centre Stage
Kick off your weekend in style with readings from Jonathan Edwards and Jericho Brown. Wry, deft and curious, Jonathan Edwards’s poetry has bagged him a number of awards, including the Costa Poetry Award for his first collection, My Family and Other Superheroes. A two-time winner of the Wales Book of the Year People’s Choice Award, his writing reminds us that ‘the time to be the people we’ll become’ is now. Also taking to the virtual stage is American poet Jericho Brown, the winner of the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. His poetry interweaves elegy and an alert awareness of systemic, often racist, violence with moments of transcendent joy.
