Thursday 21 January (All day) - Wednesday 31 March (All day)
StAnza Online
This event took place in 2021

A participatory project to make do and mend

Resolve to Make it New is a collaboration with Fife Contemporary, celebrating the items that have literally been made anew during the past tumultuous year, through darning and mending in all its forms. This online exhibition will include images of these rescued and now cherished objects, as well as short poems that look at the theme of making new in its widest sense. Check out work by textile artist Deirdre Nelson and poems by Lisa Kelly – and get involved yourself!

If you’ve spent some of the weeks and months of lockdown (any of them!) mending something that you thought was past saving, or writing down your thoughts about how you’ve come to realise the importance of ‘making new’, please email Fife Contemporary ( with a poem of up to 20 lines, or up to 3 images of your renewed object with up to 100 words of description. Please put Make it New in the subject line of your email. Send in your poem or images/text as soon as you can; they'll continue to add them to the website.
