Bela Chekurishvili, born in Gurjaani (Georgia), studied Georgian language and literature at the University of Tbilisi. An enthusiastic climber, she worked as an arts journalist for various Georgian magazines and newspapers for a number of years, and has also worked as a teacher. She is completing a PhD in Comparative Literature at the University of Tbilisi and currently studying at Bonn University. The author of several collections, she has had work published in numerous anthologies and translated into German, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian. Since 2016 Bela has also been active as a translator. She lives in Berlin and Cologne.
