Accessibility statement

On this page

Ready to give?

StAnza wants everyone to be able to use this website. This statement covers stanzapoetry.org. For access at the festival itself, including venues, BSL interpretation and captioning, see Access and inclusion.

Using this website

You should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen
  • move around the whole site using just a keyboard
  • skip past the navigation straight to the main content
  • use the site with a screen reader
  • turn off animation by switching on reduced motion in your device settings

If you have a disability, AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use.

How we built it

We rebuilt this website in 2026 with accessibility in mind from the start, rather than checking it at the end. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

  • Every pairing of text and background colour in our brand palette has been checked for contrast
  • Links, buttons and form fields show a clear focus outline when you tab to them
  • Pages use headings in a logical order
  • Images that carry meaning, including every artist photo, have a text description
  • We do not use accessibility overlay widgets

What is not fully accessible yet

We know about these problems and are working on them:

  • Many older news posts, from 2008 to 2015, lost their images when our blog moved. We are recovering them.
  • Some PDFs, such as older festival programmes and some of our policies and reports, may not work well with a screen reader. Ask us for the information in another format.
  • Some content comes from other services, including our forms (Jotform), our newsletter sign-up (Mailchimp) and our videos (YouTube). We choose these with access in mind, but we do not control how they work.
  • Artist pages link to websites run by the artists and their publishers. We are not responsible for how accessible those sites are.

Asking for another format

If you need anything on this website in a different format, such as large print, plain text or an audio description, email stanza@stanzapoetry.org. Tell us the web address of the page and the format you need.

Reporting a problem

If you find something on this website that is hard to use, or you think we are not meeting the guidelines, please tell us. Email stanza@stanzapoetry.org. We read every message and use them to improve the site.

How we test

We check new pages with automated tools (axe and WAVE), by using the site with only a keyboard, and with an accessibility checker built into our editing tools, so problems are flagged as content is written.

About this statement

This statement was prepared on 19 October 2026, ahead of the launch of our new website. We will review it after our pre-launch accessibility test and at least once a year after that.
