Homes for Sale

Homes for Sale “Homes for Sale” thus read the signAs diggers dig and bulldozers whineCertain parties would not agreeThe missel-thrush who once sat in the treeWhich was part of the woodland on this estateOr the rabbits and hedgehogsThe moles and volesWho used to reside hereIn dry comfy holesOr the little field-mouseIn his little field houseSuch a pity – so unfair -Defenceless wee creaturesIn their harmless lairMust now be evictedAs the hand of manTakes over the landAnd space is constricted. Margaret Walker
