‘Talk about art is almost useless’ wrote Paul Cézanne in a letter to Emile Bernard. Maitreyabandhu’s work in progress, a book of poems about Paul Cézanne, rests on that ‘almost’. His new collection (due out in 2019) might almost be a response to Adorno’s dictum ‘… one can hardly speak of aesthetic matters unaesthetically, devoid of resemblance to the subject matter’. This digital installation features a selection of the poems from the forthcoming with images of the Cezanne paintings to which Maitreyabandhu is responding.
