This event will showcase three projects / organisations which work with refugees and writers in exile. Rebecca Gould will introduce Arabic Poetry in Exile, a British Council-funded project she leads with Saleh Razzouk, which is seeking to assemble an archive of Arab poetry about exile from Iraq, Syria and Lebanon from 1900 to the present. Marjorie Lotfi will speak about Open Book, the charity she co-founded which works with groups across Scotland (including refugees and migrants, and those living in shelters and care homes) to write and read poetry. Philip Terry will introduce the work of Stories in Transit, a project created by Professor Marina Warner in collaboration with Giocherenda (a Palermo-based art collective), which aims to establish the right of displaced individuals to cultural expression through storytelling and the imagination.
