Performances from Safiya Kamaria Kinshasa, an artist blending poetry with choreography, poet and Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature Rachael Boast, and Jess Traynor, whose collection Pit Lullabies was a Poetry Book Society recommendation. Kinshasa is the winner of multiple slam championships across the UK, and is developing a unique style of choreo-poetry, blending dance and literary performance. Traynor is a highly respected figure in the Irish arts world, from her work as Literary Manager at the renowned Abbey Theatre to her work as co-editor on Correspondences, a call to end the Irish government’s disastrous “Direct Provision” service for refugees and migrant people, to her three celebrated poetry collections. Boast is one of the finest lyrical poets at work today, and a committed advocate for disability rights, whose work is in active discussion with Rimbaud, Akhmatova, Coleridge, and more, bringing their spirits to the page with her poems’ philosophical vigour. Safiya Kamaria Kinshasa is a British-born Barbadian-raised poet, dancer, choreographer and researcher. Her interdisciplinary art, braids dance and poetry on the page and stage. Jess Traynor is an award-winning poet, creative writing teacher and dramaturg from Dublin. Her latest collection, Pit Lullabies, is a Poetry Book Society recommendation. Rachael Boast is the author of four collections of poetry, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, Advisor to the Estate of W.S. Graham and a disability advocate.
