Our round-the-world poetry tour visits Hawai’i, with a reading from Craig Santos Perez. Perez is an Indigenous Chamoru (Chamarro) from the Pacific Island of Guam and works as an English Professor at the University of Hawai’i. His work focuses on the ecological damage caused both to his childhood home and his adult one, particularly the ecological impacts of US imperialism. It is a wonder and a delight that his work still manages to capture much that is human, hopeful, even humorous. Perez’s unique perspectives are not to be missed.
Dr. Craig Santos Perez is the co-editor of six anthologies and the author of five books of poetry. He is a professor in the English department at the University of Hawai’i, where he teaches Pacific literature, creative writing, and eco-poetry.
