On the final leg of our tour before arriving back in Scotland, StAnza makes poetry pitstops in the writing rooms of Argentinian poet Ezequiel Zaidenwerg and the bilingual Kichwa / Spanish Ecuadorian poet Yana Lucila Lema Otavalo. Ezequiel will read the last poem from his recent bilingual, novelised ‘anthology’ of contemporary US poetry: a long poem on masculinity in America from Jefferson to Trump comprised entirely of words from the US Declaration of Independence. Yana’s work stands in wonderful contrast to Ezequiel’s: she will read from work she describes as ‘conducive to encounters that allow us to know and value other emotions, sounds, subjectivities, languages and realities’ during the process of developing cross-cultural understanding and empathy.
Tickets will go back on sale to view recordings of the events after the event has finished.
