In this second edition of Past and Present events revisiting The Waste Land (following Vahni Capildeo’s talk on Thursday), Paul Muldoon will join us via Zoom to discuss the influence of Eliot’s poem on his own poetic practice. This special Saturday morning edition of Past and Present is extended to allow time for Paul also to read from his new poetry collection Howdie Skelp, which includes a nightmarish remake of The Waste Land. Sandeep Parmar will compare and contrast the influence of two important female modernists, Hope Mirrlees and Mina Loy, on both her own practice and contemporary poetry more broadly.
