Event Details

Readings from the poet and novelist Jenni Fagan, and Glasgow’s first Gaelic laureate, Niall O’Gallagher. Though better known for her novels, such as The Panopticon and The Sunlight Pilgrims, Fagan is also an accomplished poet, whose work fizzes with intimate, direct addresses and unfiltered emotion. Hailed by Aonghas MacNeacail as one of the key poets rendering Gaelic into an “essentially urban voice”, O’Gallagher’s work plays with classical metrical and syllabic forms, rendering modern life in some of this country’s oldest poetic forms.

Jenni Fagan is an award-winning novelist, poet, screenwriter and artist. She has published several fiction novels and poetry collections, and her work has been translated into numerous languages. Niall O’Gallagher is a poet, translator, and journalist, and the City of Glasgow’s first Gaelic Poet Laureate. Poet and translator Peter Mackay will be providing translations for some of the readings in this event.

In partnership with The Gaelic Books Council.

Please note: Jenni Fagan will be appearing virtually.
