Rebecca Tamás and Stephanie Sy-Quia, both poets and environmental essayists, perform a selection of their own poetry. We’re thrilled to bring two outstanding poets and critical thinkers to the stage, whose work challenges the boundaries of what we consider wild and what we suppose to be ‘civilised’. In both Tamás’ essay collection Strangers and her first collection WITCH, she explores the meeting places between human and non-human consciousnesses, unearthing the roots of the environmental, folkloric and historical. Likewise, Sy-Quia’s epic poem Amnion digs into the places where the traumas of empire visit themselves once more upon the people who grow up in its aftermath, in its self-mythology. Rebecca Tamás is the author of the poetry collection WITCH and the essay collection Strangers: Essays on the Human and Nonhuman. Stephanie Sy–Quia was born in 1995 in California and now lives in London. Her first collection, Amnion, won the Forward Prize for Best First Collection.
