What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than by marking your love for poetry at the second event in the Well-versed series of discussions? This evening Booker Prize shortlisted poet Robin Robertson joins Lucy on the StAnza Zoom sofa to talk about The Long Take, and the hybrid form of the verse novel more generally. Why did Robin choose to write in this form, and didn’t the poetry prove difficult to sustain over the course of the book? Is there any reason why he took this step towards narrative at this particular juncture (bearing in mind his reputation as a leading lyric poet)?
