The sonnet is arguably the most lyric of all lyric forms. Yet in Hannah Lowe’s recent collection of sonnets The Kids (shortlisted for both the Costa and T.S. Eliot prizes this year), she adapts the form to tell snapshot stories of the teenagers she worked with while working as a teacher at an inner-city London sixth-form college. Join Hannah for an intimate reading in a new venue for 2022 – a firelit yurt in the grounds of St Leonards school. What better setting could there be for poems as compassionate, empathetic and humorous as these?
