The Byre Theatre
The Byre is our festival hub, where tickets can be bought, food and drink consumed, and where most of the festival’s events and exhibitions are hosted. The history of the Byre theatre reaches back to 1933; the current building (2001) was built by award-winning architects Nicol Russell Studios of Broughty Ferry, Dundee. The theatre is currently owned by the University of St Andrews.
Key StAnza venues: Auditorium, Studio, Conference Room, Exhibition spaces.
Access: The Byre is a fully accessible building, with level access to both public entrances, and a lift in operation across all floors. There are wheelchair spaces with unrestricted views in both performance spaces.
The Auditorium and Studio both offer a hearing loop system. Please let the Byre know if you need this facility before you book, and they will have a hearing loop pack ready for you. Their systems are also compatible with the ‘T’ setting hearing aid.
Extensive, detailed accessibility information is available on the Byre website – https://byretheatre.com/your-visit/accessibility/ – or you can get in touch with the theatre by emailing byreboxoffice@st-andrews.ac.uk or calling 01334 475 000 during opening hours.
