Join us to draw StAnza 2022 to a close with a bang! Our final event of this year’s festival will feature poetry from Luke Kennard and Maria Dahvana Headley, plus music from leading Scottish folk musician Kim Edgar. Luke will read from his Forward-Prize-winning collection Notes on the Sonnets, which comprises 154 prose poems reacting to Shakespeare’s sonnets in the style of a nightmarish house party. Maria will read from her acclaimed radical feminist translation of Beowulf, which uses contemporary street language to unearth new meanings from the original text. As a songwriter, Kim is fascinated by stories that might not normally make it into songs, and re-writing traditional Scottish songs from a feminist perspective.
