‘The golf links lie so near the mill / That almost every day / The labouring children can look out / And see the men at play.’ (‘The Golf Links’ by Sarah N. Cleghorn, The New York Tribune, 1915). What role can the ‘caddy’ play in poetry? What is the difference between a poem written with a 9 iron and a poem written with a 3 wood? Can a poem be in the rough or on the green? Join poet Luke Kennard to explore the conceptual poetic potential of golf in the wonderful surroundings of The Royal and Ancient Golf Museum. The workshop will also engage with the museum’s unique and surprising artefacts. Passion for golf optional. Curiosity and willingness to write some new poems essential.
