Breakfast at the Poetry Café: Translation

Sunday 14 March, 10:00 - 11:00
StAnza Online

Translators discuss transposing poetry from Slavic languages

Wake up and smell the Poetry Café! Our breakfast discussion events offer a relaxed start to the day, with a group of poets and other festival participants discussing all things poetical. We can’t offer the usual Byre coffee and Fisher and Donaldson pastries this year, but if you bring your own cuppa, we’ll try and channel those pastries! Our translation breakfasts are always a favourite at the festival, and this year we’re thrilled to bring together poets and translators working from a variety of Slavic languages, including Sasha Dugdale, who works from Russian, and Stephan Delbos, a translator from Czech.

The panel discussion will be streamed to this page and followed by a Zoom Q&A to allow for audience discussion. Just turn up here for the panel discussion. You can book a ticket to receive the link to the Zoom Q&A in advance. The link will also be shared during the discussion.

Venue for online: This web page – free

*TBC* We hope this event can, additionally, also be live streamed to the Byre Theatre for a small socially distanced audience, if this is permitted in March.  Please read our position on Covid-19 safety and compliance.

Venue for Byre live stream: The Byre Theatre, Abbey Street – Auditorium – free/ticketed

In partnership with Modern Poetry in Translation and Czech Literary Centre

Participants: Stephan Delbos and Sasha Dugdale
